How to block invites on Facebook

I have Facebook friends (bless their hearts) who use Facebook to promote their businesses, churches, groups, hobbies or – sadly – a Facebook app they invest apparently years of their lives in.

They’re not bad people. I don’t want to sever my Facebook friendship with them, I just want to quarantine their pesky invites far away from my notifications.

Here’s how:

1. Click the little gear top right of any Facebook page. (It is your friend. As the old online saying goes, “The solutions are under Settings. The problems are under Comments.”)
2. Click Privacy Settings. (It is sad how few users enthusiastically pursue this necessary hygiene.)
3. Click Blocking.
4. Scroll down to Block App Invites and Block Event Invites and add the offender’s name.
5. Don’t tell them. It leads to unpleasantry.
