Weird facts and buried treasure

Two things happened today so different, yet so Wikipedian. The first thing was that Dario Taraborelli, a genius researcher at the Wikimedia Foundation, unveiled a profound project he’s been working on with big publishers and esteemed organization.

The Initiative for Open Citations (I4OC) aims to make citation data freely available for anyone to access.

The other thing was the Wikimedia Foundation’s social media team receiving hundreds of weird facts from our Facebook followers.

They included the story of Pope Stephen VI digging up the remains of the late Pope Formosus, put him to trial and proclaimed his papacy invalid.

A profound future of knowledge and weirdness from the past coming together in the present. That’s Wikipedia!
